Get to know some of our Kenyan artisans who produce your Sandlovers every day with passion the traditional handmade way.

ThomasThomas is born and raised in Nairobi, the capital city of Kenya with a population of 3.5 Mio; he came to the south coast region with his parents and his 5 siblings some 7 years ago and finally arrived in Diani Beach. As many other families have they moved to the coast region to simply find work and survive as a family.

Thomas was already very talented and skillfull in his younger age and therefore only after a very few months he was able to fully join our team and work self-motivated in producing our handmade Sandlovers in all details. Thomas is a member of our team now for three years, he knows every detail in producing our handmade Sandlovers from cutting and treating the leather upto beading and taking part in creating our new designs – Thomas plays a very important role in our team.

Just recently Thomas got married and is the proud father of a baby girl.

DenoDeno has spent his childhood in Ukunda very near-by to our shoe manufacture; Ukunda has a population of approx. 60,000 people.

Every day Deno is travelling the 10km distance to work by bike and belongs to our Sandlovers team now for more then 2 years. He is proud when he sees some new pairs of handmade Sandlovers being finished and says that “I like the most when we all sit together at the table for work and listen to our music, men and women”, a typical day when they work on the beading from recycled glass – and every detail is fullfilled with a smile or an amusing story-telling.

Deno is the loving dad of one daughter and one son; his daughter is getting into “Primary School” in Ukunda soon and Deno is very proud that through his work he can provide his children with a proper school education and therefore for a chance for a self-carring life.

With the purchase of your Sandlovers you also support Thomas and Deno in Kenya – you provide them and their families with the chance for a sustainable future.
